The Inspector will inspect work in the process of fabrication into metal products and finished products to ensure conformance with company specifications. They will inspect materials received at the plant to ensure conformance and communicate with the team on quality issues and standards.
What you will do:
- Wears all safety equipment, follow safety rules and supports, and promotes safety in the work areas
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends, as scheduled
- Interprets blueprints, drawings, sample models, or specifications to ensure completion of assembly
- Adept at communicating with all levels of staff, including supervisors and technicians
- Agile in decision-making skills and ability to articulate conformance issues to technicians
- Possesses an attitude laser focused on quality standards
- Inspects product and/or component parts for non-conformance requirements
- Inspects material for surface defects, cosmetic faults, cracks, pits, incomplete welds, and correct fabrication
- Inspects specified dimensions of product or material with the use of measuring tape, caliper, micrometers, square, and other measuring tools
- Rejects non-conforming parts using standardized process
- Data entry of information into proprietary systems to maintain data while reporting qualifying and/or rejected products to immediate supervisor
- Inspect mechanisms for correct mechanical function, assembly, cosmetics, and packing
- Additional duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications Include:
- Associate degree in industrial or mechanical field, preferable
- One-year certificate from college or technical school plus six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
- Highly desirable to possess intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Access, Word, and Excel
- Ability to use and understand quality tools and measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance standards, and procedure manuals is highly preferable
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid
