These are full-time, paid summer internships, typically ranging from 10-12 weeks, in May/June 2025. Throughout your internship, we provide continuous training and performance feedback to ensure you develop the necessary skills to succeed. The Otis Quality Intern will support two manufacturing cells, improving and monitoring quality processes and standardized documentation, reacting to process and product failures, and validating any applicable NPI (new product introduction).
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in the Florence factory annual calibration event
- Support Process Certification initiatives in the factory by evaluating measurement systems for repeatability/reproducibility and performing capability analyses
- Evaluate the current MRB (Material Review Board) and Scrap procedure, identify and implement changes in order to expedite approvals and disposition scrap, and evaluate sustainability of changes
- Gain exposure to SPC (Statistical Process Control) and will support data analysis as needed
- May participate in continuous improvement events and Lean initiatives such as Kaizen and 5S
- Perform various quality engineering support functions including but not limited to revising inspection instructions and procedures, assisting with equipment, writing manufacturing documents, developing processes, and preparing presentations.
Education / Certifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment
- Candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Needs to be self-motivated and able to manage several simultaneous projects and responsibilities
- Good mechanical aptitude
