The IFT Quality Assurance Coordinator will work alongside Bozeman Health Emergency Services Transport Team to activate patient care protocols, delivering patient care within his/her full scope of practice when appropriate as defined by the state of Montana and Bozeman Health Transport team scope of practice. The IFT Quality Assurance Coordinator will maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards while safely transporting patients utilizing policy, procedure and accreditation standards of Bozeman Health Emergency Services. The IFT Quality Assurance Coordinator will maintain equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and function of ambulances and equipment per regulatory and compliance standards. The coordinator will be responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care with team, transport and communication with receiving facility. The coordinator will provide safe, high-quality patient care and transportation for a wide variety of patients between Bozeman Health facilities, critical access systems and regional healthcare partners. This position requires clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate equipment independently in a dynamic team environment.
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Coordinator – Interfacility Transport (IFT) oversees clinical and operational quality for Bozeman Health Emergency Services’ transport team. The role designs and maintains the QA/Quality Improvement (QI) framework; audits care and documentation against protocols, regulatory, and accreditation requirements; analyzes performance trends; and partners with leaders and the medical director to drive measurable improvements. The QA Coordinator provides coaching and targeted education based on audit findings, supports accreditation and survey activities, communicates clearly with clinical teams and leadership, and may rotate into transport shifts within licensure and Bozeman Health protocols to maintain clinical relevance.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Valid Montana driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Preferred:
- Prehospital or interfacility transport experience.
- Quality-related experience (QA/QI, chart audit, regulatory compliance) and familiarity with EMS ePCR systems.
- Advanced certifications: CPHQ, CTRN, CEN, CFRN, or CCRN (Adult).
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification at the EMT or AEMT level.
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) and/or VFIS driver training.
- FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) training: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.
- Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Completion of the S.T.A.B.L.E. course.
- Completion of the Difficult Airway Course.

- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive QA/QI program for IFT clinical and operational performance.
- Conduct structured ePCR/chart reviews for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to clinical protocols and documentation standards.
- Analyze key performance indicators (e.g., airway success, analgesia effectiveness, transport/turnaround times, documentation accuracy) and prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership.
- Facilitate root-cause analyses of incidents, near misses, and complaints; track corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
