At Medtronic, we seek a Project Manager to support our McGRATH team of the Acute Care Monitoring (ACM) business in executing product development projects. This role is responsible in driving cross-functional collaboration to deliver medical technology innovations through Medtronic's stage-gate process.
A Day in the Life
This position is responsible for the direct management of high-tech product development projects involving teams with a broad range of global cross-functional resources. Projects managed can range in scope from medium scale/complexity to large scale/complexity managed domestically and / or internationally. Accountable to R&D for overall project execution and ensuring team commitments (project contract) are met and communicated in a timely manner.
Responsibilities Include:
Project Execution
Leads projects from initiation to delivery, driving multidisciplinary project teams to execute on tasks and deliverables
Develops project plan and integrated schedules, ensures plans address design control and stage gate deliverables
Proactively manages risks and mitigation strategies
Efficiently forecasts, allocates, and levels resources to achieve project goals
Ensure project deliverables meet required standards and specifications
Coordinates design control documentation with engineering/quality teams
Holds team members accountable to project commitments and develops a sense of urgency when key deliverables are jeopardized
Cross-Functional Coordination
Identify and manage needs and expectations of all stakeholders involved in projects
Establishes clear and effective communication channels within the project team and with external stakeholders
Track action items from project meetings using tools like MS Project/Excel
Facilitates problem solving and meetings to address obstacles
Facilitates communication to key stakeholders on project performance
Fosters teamwork; strives to maintain an environment of openness and trust
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
BS in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related technical field
3-5 years of experience in medical device/product development or
Experience in project management in a stage-gate system
Nice to Have
Ability to create and maintain project documents with minimal supervision
Ability to interface with Marketing, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality and Manufacturing and other stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
