WXYZ, The E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Detroit, Michigan is seeking a Production Assistant who will operate the teleprompter during live and recorded productions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Load scripts and operate teleprompter on all live newscasts.

• Follow rundowns during live and recorded programs and productions.

• Work with directors and producers to prepare show elements.

• Assist with guests and show set-ups.

• Print and distribute scripts.

• Perform duties of floor director for studio recordings and special programs.

• Take cues from the director and provide cues and other information to the talent.

• Inform the director of any relevant off-camera action.

• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Typically requires no prior experience in related field 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Working knowledge of current studio television equipment and methods to accomplish daily preparation and production of newscasts and other programs to service the station

• Should have good production skills and work well under pressure

• Basic computer skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be diplomatic with a variety of staff and guests from all departments

• Must have good speaking and listening skills

• Must be reliable, dependable possess a willingness to learn

• Position involves studio and some field productions

• May include standing and walking for long periods of time while giving visible cues to on-air talent

• Requires flexible hours including holidays and weekends
