Job Description
The Product Manager MDM will have intimate knowledge of the organization’s key business processes and how those processes create, update and delete master data. The person filling this role will have enough knowledge of the IT landscape to communicate well with all technical roles. Ideally, that person will have a high degree of credibility in the organization and will be effective in communicating with and influencing the people around them.
This role will own and maintain all master data models pertaining to their particular data domain. They will be responsible for analyzing the technologies and best practices for implementing and evolving metadata and master data management. They focus on the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, governance, semantic consistency and accountability of master data assets.
Responsibilities:
- Understanding of how master data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes
- Awareness of the security, privacy, ethics and quality requirements for critical data entities
- Solid project management skills to guide point-in-time and ongoing targeted data quality, retention, security, privacy and ethics improvement projects
- Deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data (or bad data) on the ability of the business to meet its own objectives
- Visibility with and respect from all levels of the organization — lead domain data stewards must have credibility and a track record of success in the business
- Facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view and requirements that invariably collide during cross-team and cross-organization efforts
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels, from clerical positions to the senior management team
- Ability to influence peers and subordinates to modify behaviors and provide support for the adoption of data governance policies
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree
- 8 years’ hands on experience with MDM tools and technology
- 5 years managing data products at an enterprise scale
- 5 years’ experience with data analysis techniques (SQL / Python)
- 3 years’ experience building logical data models for database and application architectures
- In-depth knowledge of Initiative’s industry and key business processes
- Solid project management skills to guide point-in-time and ongoing targeted
- This job requires being onsite for leader-defined events and activities which could be monthly/annually. Onsite frequency may increase based on business need.
- Candidates must be based within a commutable distance from one of our US office locations (Sunnyvale, CA, Peachtree Corners, GA, and/or Raleigh, NC)
