About the Position:As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work with other UI and API Software Engineers to build and enhance features on the cloud-based suite of Fastpath products. You will be primarily responsible for full-stack software development, including the development of REST API and back-end services written in C# and Java that must be written in a highly scalable and secure nature. In addition to development tasks, you will be able to contribute to our coding standards, best practices, and design patterns used throughout our code base. You will also be a mentor to other Software Engineers. This position reports to the VP of Software Engineering. The location for this position is Hybrid in or near Colorado Springs, Colorado, Denver, Colorado and Des Moines, Iowa. Fastpath is a Software as a Service company; our mission is to simplify access orchestration, empowering organizations to easily take control of their security, compliance, and risk management initiatives. Responsibilties

• Design, develop, and test REST APIs and back-end services written in .NET for large-scale, cloud-based application.
• Design, develop, and test REST APIs and back-end services written in Java for large-scale, cloud-based application.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including development, code reviews, and testing. We work in two-week sprints and our engineers are involved in feature refinement, story pointing and sprint planning.
• Work directly with other API Software Engineers and UI Software Engineers to build and enhance features in the Fastpath suite of cloud-based software.
• Mentor other Software Engineers on coding standards, best practices, and overall component architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders and Product Managers during the design phase when building new features to build technical requirements and provide technical scope.
• Partner with engineering leaders to design architecture of new and integrated product software solutions.
• Work directly with QA Engineers to build acceptance criteria and to test the features that you build.
• Participate in QA Regression Testing during each release cycle.
• Write and update product documentation to support the use of the features you build.
• Recommend new coding standards, best practices, and design patterns to be used in our code base to uphold our highly scalable and secure priorities.
• Stay current with new technologies and cloud services that can enhance the cloud-based suite of Fastpath products.
• Perform research and proof-of-concept work in conjunction with other engineering leaders.
• Provide technical assistance on escalated customer support cases and provide bug fixes when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience developing in modern development technologies such as .NET and Java
• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or other web-based API technologies
• Experience with User Interface frameworks such as Vue
• Experience with design patterns, including dependency injection, middleware, and pipelines
• Experience designing and implementing unit tests and developer-level testing
• Experience with relational database technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL
• Experience with commercial cloud providers, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
• Experience with DevOps tools, such as Azure DevOps or Jira
• Experience with Git source control
• Experience in an Agile Development Lifecycle
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience
