Job Description: Human Resources Intern

Tenneco is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Human Resources (HR) student interested in gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment on-site at our Monroe, MI location.  As an HR Intern you will be responsible for supporting the HR Manager and broader team in accomplishing tasks and projects, while partnering on HR Initiatives. This role is a part-time temporary position, with 20-30 hours expected per week.  Hours will be determined based on your class schedule but must be during Tenneco business hours.  We are seeking a student who can begin ASAP and continue throughout the school year.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete tasks and lead projects as assigned.
    • Filling.
    • Update job descriptions.
    • Order supplies.
    • Maintain building bulletin boards.
  • Coordinate and deliver the onboarding and orientation of all new hires.
  • Work on engagement projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Team and assist with related group initiatives.
  • Participate in creating and running the local intern & co-op program.
  • Coordinate and own the planning of events and activities.
    • Event planning. (ex. Fall event, Holiday Party, Bring Your Kid to Work day)
  • Manage the filing and auditing of employment records.
  • Answer employee questions and direct them to the appropriate resources.
  • Assist with the review of hourly candidates and participate in interviews when appropriate.
  • Establish a strong HR business partnership with key leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Human Resources or Business student with a passion for HR.
  • At least 30 credit hours completed, 60 preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong desire to learn and understand all areas of Human Resources.
