Payroll Coordinator
Role: The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for managing the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries and wages to SML MKRs. This role involves handling payroll calculations, processing deductions, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Coordinator works closely with employee relations, finance, and benefits departments to maintain accurate payroll records and resolve any payroll-related issues.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process semi-monthly and monthly payrolls.
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions accurately.
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of payroll payments to SML MKRs.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including personal information, wage rates, and deductions.
- Verify and input timekeeping data into the payroll system.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and implement necessary updates to payroll processes.
- Generate payroll reports for internal use and for external compliance purposes.
- Prepare and submit tax reports, benefits reports, and other payroll-related documentation.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and SML MKR inquiries promptly.
- Investigate and correct payroll errors, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with employee relations, finance, and benefits departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Assist in the administration of SML MKR benefits programs related to payroll, such as retirement plans, health insurance, and health savings accounts.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, Paychex, or similar).
- Occasionally work after hours or weekends to process payroll.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
