Our Newton, MA (near Boston) office is actively searching for a Port Engineer/Planner to support our offshore wind (OSW) ports practice.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Perform site selection studies and feasibility studies for proposed OSW ports
- Analyze existing port infrastructure and proposed sites to determine suitability for use in OSW industry
- Work with OSW port logistics modeling team to create and analyze OSW port models
- Work with OSW ports team to analyze OSW project operational requirements and create supporting port layouts and concept designs
- Keep current with OSW industry trends, US and international work pipeline
- Coordinate with structural, civil, electrical and mechanical design teams as required
- Perform periodic site visits and field investigations to proposed and existing OSW port locations
- Ability and willingness to interact with clients and attend client meetings
- Produce presentations and reports for OSW port clients

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Civil, Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture. A Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline or OSW engineering is preferred
- 2 to 6 years of experience in related marine engineering, port planning or offshore wind
- Good working knowledge of the OSW industry including:
- BOEM (US) leasing process
- US State OSW power solicitation process
- European OSW leasing and solicitation process
- South American OSW leasing and solicitation process
- OSW wind turbine generation sizing and geometry
- Process flow of WTG components through OSW port
- OSW vessel characteristics and specifications
- OSW port criteria to support both fixed bottom and floating offshore wind projects
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills and ability to work with a team approach
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment. Some travel may be required to work with other offices as part of large project teams or to project site in different locations than the candidate’s assigned office.
