POSITION SUMMARY
Relocation Assistance available up to $18,000
Pay Range: $58.45 to $88.25
Functions as the Nurse Manager for one or more department(s) within the nursing units. Assumes 24/7 responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, unit operation, and staff function as well as directs and supervises all technical and management aspects. Functions in direct bedside patient care when necessary and in order to keep clinical skills current. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with the organizational philosophy and objectives. Fosters highly skilled professional practice, in accordance with the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) and develops high functioning interdisciplinary teams. Reviews and approves nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards of patient care, plans for provision of treatment and service. Assures ongoing quality improvement programs are incorporated in clinical/nursing care, treatment and services delivered to patients. Facilitates process improvement activities to meet expected quality metrics. Serves as a catalyst for change within the organization and department to advance patient care and staff engagement. Practices in adherence with the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurse Administrators and the ANA Code of Ethics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –
Performed majority of the time --
· Holds staff accountable for adhering to policies, processes and standards in a consistent manner.
· Helps staff through change by consistently being a positive role model.
· Completes HR and Payroll deadlines such as completing PDS’s and ePA’s within expected timeframes.
· Shares information regarding business direction and goals in a timely and positive manner along with corporate and departmental financial status with employees.
· Ensures employee licenses and certifications are current.
· Supervises and coordinates the efforts of department leaders.
· Coordinates and implements project/programs and performs other management duties as assigned by the administrative team. Participates with the administrative team in strategic planning.
· Participates and/or leads assigned committees (i.e. Code Blue Committee).
· Ensures staffing for areas of responsibility is adequate to address continuity of care, patient acuity and appropriateness of care considering age, culture, ethnicity and personal belief systems.
· Assures that systems are in place to implement the findings of current research from nursing, rehabilitation and other literature into the policies and procedures governing the provision of patient care.
· Promotes the retention, recruitment, development and continuing education of staff.
· Oversees and directs department activities including standards, scope of practice, policies/procedures for areas of responsibility (should be consistent with O-85).
· Assures that department policies are aligned with OSBN’s scope of practice and revises and educates on policy changes.
· Understands recourses in regards to compliance, HIPPA, privacy and HR concerns and escalates issues when needed.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
· Participates in corporate programs and attends appropriate meeting to enhance communication and to assist in achieving corporate goals.
· Communicates safety expectations and necessity for staff to attend annual training.
· Assures that quality improvement monitoring and evaluation is implemented and maintained.
· Provides assistance and support to the marketing and promotion of hospital services.
· Participates in regional professional organization on a regular basis to provide professional growth.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing can be used in lieu of BSN; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
Preferred
· Master’s degree in related nursing field.
