Molding Automation Control Specialist

The Molding Automation Control Specialist, is responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining injection molding processes for production and tooling. The role works on a multi-functional team, contributing to the creation of manufactured plastic components. The role troubleshoots and solve problems across the entirety of the SDS North American network of injection molding facilities.

• Lead Manufacturing Readiness for Molding Equipment in relation to New Product Applications.  This includes working with vendors to prepare Estimates for the Sales team, plan creation and execution, and installation.
• Design and implement End of Arm tooling for Continuous improvement and new launches, keeping part containment and tool life as among the key characteristics. 
• Lead or provide expertise in conversations related to molding automation: communication and efficiency between all equipment needed to run a mold well.
• Create and continuously improve robot programming to safely improve cycle times. 
• Assist and lead troubleshooting efforts in obsolete or down equipment to rapidly restore failed equipment into operation.  Help us identify opportunities with PM to prevent down time before it occurs.
• Participate in Molding production or quality Problems Solving Team efforts to identify root cause and counter measures.
• Improve OEE recording to make data available for use in operational improvements.  Use the data generated to help create an action plan favoring highest returns with least effort. 
• Assist other SDS facilities in efforts to improve processes and efficiencies.
• Leverage experience with SDS products and systems to drive improvements in Design for Manufacturing
• Position will require up to 30% travel in support of NA molding initiatives.

Qualified Candidates must have

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Program certificate or equivalent level of applicable experience.
• 5 year directly related experience with training in similar industry or profession required.
• Thorough understanding of overall molding process
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
• Electronic knowledge and familiarity with scientific terms
• Familiar with specific computer software such as: Excel, Word, Projects, MiniTab.
• CAD experience helpful, AutoCad or Solidworks preferred.
