The Boeing Company is looking for a Mission Software Engineer (Associate/Mid-Level) to join the Core Mission Software team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Enterprise Software.
You will be joining a team of software engineers from across the Boeing Enterprise who are executing best practices and developing cutting-edge software to deliver the best value to our customers and warfighters. A successful candidate will highlight their interest in, experience with, and/or eagerness to learn all phases of the software development lifecycle, and be excited to deliver a variety of high-quality, tactical mission software services to be installed on multiple airborne platforms. This software will interact with tactical subsystems, manage communications between aircraft, and/or implement business logic to execute tactical missions.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Software Engineers.
A successful candidate will be self-motivated and professional, passionate about the mission and passionate about developing modern software products by leveraging cloud-based DevSecOps environments, and will embrace continuous learning and improvement. Experience with embedded software, airborne software, or autonomy software is a plus.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with more senior engineers on software architecture design and definition for containerized software services to run onboard aircraft platforms
- Participate in the development, documentation, and maintenance of tactical, embedded mission software solutions
- Participate in peer reviews
- Participate in integration testing to deliver a fully functional system
- Develop and execute automated software test procedures and troubleshoot functional and performance issues
- Estimate, plan, and track software development in an Agile environment
- Work with geographically-dispersed interdisciplinary team of Engineering and Program Management professionals
- There are great development opportunities to learn and grow outside of the software domain and we encourage our engineers to gain depth in tactical and mission systems competencies so that we can continuously improve and build better solutions.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).
To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 1+ year experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C++, C# and/or Java
- Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance (Post-Start)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient in Linux and AWS development environments
- Proven experience with hardware/software integration and developing to ICDs
- Embedded software development with modern C++
- Containerized software development
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with tools for Continuous Integration/Delivery, Version Control, and Build Automation such as Git and Gitlab
- Communication Link experience
- Experience with Agile Methodologies
- Active U.S. Security Clearance

Associate Level 2:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combin
