Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics is one of the premier research departments and the largest teaching unit on campus. There are approximately 200 undergraduate students, 86 undergraduate student workers, 94 graduate students, 60 active faculty members, 10 postdoctoral researchers, 1 classified staff, and 7 professional staff. The annual state appropriated budget is $8.6+ million per year.This position is the Mentor Team Leader in the department responsible for all aspects of reviewing existing trainings for pre-service and new teachers; incorporate customization for STEM education in high-needs schools, develops communication management plan for meeting with, observing, and checking in with mentor team including: (a) regular communication with LSU faculty mentors, with teacher-mentors in the field and with Noyce scholarship recipients; (b) scheduling, directing, tracking and reporting team activities; (c) tracking & reporting activities of individual team members. Responsibilities during the summer include creation of materials that model effective instruction in high-needs schools.  The position will communicate monthly with LSU contact; deliver plans, reports, data and verify services performed satisfactorily for the mentor payments due in May, July, and December each year.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years secondary teaching of a STEM subjectPreferred Qualifications:  Record of support for GeauxTeach
