The Production Manager oversees all production operations within the plant to ensure that all projects, materials and supplies are in a positive flow. The Production Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that machines are functional, and all safety standards are adhered to. 

Production Manager Job Responsibilities 

• Provide leadership and direction to the production team 
• Manage production operations to achieve higher output 
• Evaluate production operations to ensure optimum efficiency  
• Estimate production costs and create production budgets 
• Manage production budgets 
• Ensure the flow of raw materials and other resources  
• Ensure execution of production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling activities, and monitoring progress, revising schedules, and resolving problems as necessary 
• Support the development and implementation of a high-level safety program throughout the plant 
• Cultivate continuous improvement by developing metrics and identifying corrective measures to reduce waste throughout the plant 
• Implement cost control programs 
• Prepare and maintain production reports 
• Assist Human Resources with recruiting and onboarding new hires 
• Manage the performance of production staff 
• Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments

Requirements

• Production Manager Qualification and Skills: 
• Proven managerial experience 
• Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources) 
• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise 
• Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes 
• Computer literacy 
• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example 
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
