As the Manager, Learning and Development, you will be at the forefront of developing and driving the TPS Learning and Development strategy. You will lead our Training team in undertaking research, design, development, and delivery of diverse training and assessment programs. Our training requirements are varied and can include nationally recognised qualifications, in-house sessions, group workshops, individual coaching, online modules, and face-to-face training. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing a strategy that will support all TPS staff into the future.

The TPS People and Culture Unit encompasses recruiting, training, rosters, absence management, and general human resources support for TPS. We are a small, collaborative team working closely with the Department of Justice’s central human resources team and other outputs. Details of Appointment

Benefits

Salary of $129,302 to $136,089 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale.

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).

• Manage the design and delivery of contemporary learning and development programs across the Tasmania Prison Service consistent with strategic and operational plans.
• Manage the relationship with TasTAFE relating to the development and currency of the Certificate III in Correctional Practice and as well the Memorandum of Understanding with the TasTAFE as the registered training organisation to ensure compliance with ASQA.
• Provide authorative advice to the Director of Prisons to support the design and delivery of training and development requirements of Tasmania Prison Service staff (both uniform and non-uniform).
