Your Responsibilities
As a Manager, Government Affairs located in Washington, DC, you will:
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and identifies specific initiatives that present opportunities or threats to company interests.
• Alert Corporate and Business Unit management of pending legislative and regulatory initiatives, and develops strategies and action plans, in concert with business units, for affecting changes in policy and advance the Company's interests.
• Build and maintain relationships and interacts with elected and appointed officials, legislative committees, and federal agencies, to advocate and generate support for company interests.
• Represent the company and coordinate with trade associations, business coalitions, think tanks and other groups to develop support for company positions.
• Identify and implement opportunities for the company to pursue political objectives (i.e., political action committee, plant tours, etc.)

What Skills You Need
• Knowledge of legislative and regulatory decision-making processes and the impacts of proposed legislation and regulations on the private sector.
• Knowledge and understanding of public policy and political developments affecting business, markets and the economy.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and to understand their interrelated impacts on business.
• Understanding of business processes, organizations and decision-making, and ability to communicate business concepts in the political arena.
• Effective analytical, problem solving, and communications skills, including persuasive public speaking and writing abilities
What Makes You Standout
• 5 - 7 years of experience managing government relations for a trade association or corporate office, including policy development and advocacy.
• 5 - 7 years of experience working for a Member of Congress, legislative committee and/or regulatory office, with responsibility for managing issues and developing policy proposals.
• 5- 7 years of project management experience including strategic planning and execution, team engagement, coalition building, budgeting and resource management.
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, political science or related field is required.
• Graduate degree in law, business, policy or related field is preferred
