Lead Site Assistant - ARCHES Sheltering- Woodburn

The ARCHES Sheltering Project is looking for a Lead Site Assistant to join their team in Woodburn! The Lead Site Assistant provides direct support to sheltering services for the homeless population at Tanner Project, ARCHES Inn, Navigation Center, Day Center, Warming or Cooling centers and other ARCHES Sheltering locations as needed.

Responsibilities include supporting daily operations including cleaning and laundry services, clerical duties, data collection & entry, assisting clients with navigation to resources, answering client questions and other special projects as needed. The person in this position will also be responsible for training and updating Site Assistants and volunteers on applicable policies and procedures. This position requires the availability to primarily work nights, and may require weekends and/or holidays as needed. Overnight shifts available 6pm to 9 am.

There are several Full-Time Site Assistant vacancies available at the ARCHES Sheltering Woodburn location and other sites in Marion and Polk counties.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 2 years of experience in customer service, social services, or other client-facing role, and at least 6 months of experience in a leadership role.

• Preferences given to applicants who have experience working with people experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless; and/or work experience with the public in a healthcare or community services setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Driver Qualification Status required for this position. Valid driver's license, satisfactory drive record for previous three years and insured vehicle available for use on the job.

• Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.

• Food Handler's Card, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITES

• Must possess basic computer skills and intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.

• Effective interpersonal communication skills, in both written and oral form.

• Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and empathy when communicating formally and informally with clients, staff and program partners.

• Exhibits a positive attitude and engages with others in a cooperative and supportive manner.

• Bilingual English-Spanish capabilities may be required at some sites depending on the needs of the program. To qualify as bilingual, staff must possess demonstrated abilities to speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish and English and pass a bilingual test. Bilingual staff may receive a pay differential based on program language needs.

• Serves as primary point of contact for respective shift.

• Trains incoming staff members and volunteers on applicable duties, processes, and policies. Answers questions and aids coworkers as needed.

• Facilitates communication and collaboration between Site Assistants and volunteers.

• Focuses team toward primary program goals and exemplifies the positive culture.

• Ensures data collection and quality. Inputs service usage information into the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Shelter point.

• Uses De-Escalation techniques and trauma-informed care principles while performing tasks.

SUPERVISORY RESPOSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.

• Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
