Job Description Summary
We are seeking a self-motivated team player with strong government contracting and audit experience, and a proven track record with experience of interpreting and analyzing information for leases, amendments, assignment, and other legal documents. This individual will report to Corporate Accounting Manager and be responsible for managing lease workstreams and other Adhoc projects within the accounting department. The candidate will oversee complex transactions and quarterly reporting, business process improvement, policy development and internal control compliance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:•Review monthly lease journal entries•Perform monthly & quarterly account reconciliations and lease schedules•Manage processes and technical accounting related to ASC 842, providing training as needed•Develop lease data analytics methodology for Corporate Accounting department, with the objective being to analyze accounts and detailed transactions•Review payment file for monthly and ad hoc payments, partnering with real estate and accounts payable teams for timely payment•Work closely with stakeholders to ensure all lease current period accounting activity is captured by general ledger team •Contribute to quarterly processes by performing analytical reviews of all lease accounts•Improve current accounting processes by collaborating with the financial system team and finance •Partner with real estate dept., and other teams to provide information related to impact of leasing decisions•Assist the internal and external audit teams with documentation, requests and testing for compliance and audit purposes •Act as advisor on all lease inquiries to meet schedules and/or resolve problems•Receive assignments in the form of objectives and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals•Provide guidance within the latitude of established company policies and act as a SME for internal teams and finance staff•Other ad hoc projectsRequirements & Qualifications:•5+ years of general ledger or external audit experience, 2+ years government contracting experience•BS degree in Finance/Accounting, CPA preferred •Intermediate to advanced Excel skills •Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions•Proactive and self-motivated accounting professional, able to think independently•Ability to build relationships across multiple teams to foster collaboration•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail•Public accounting experience preferred •Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills •Understanding of ASC 842 •Familiarity with CoStar and Costpoint experience preferred
Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Review and prepare account reconciliations and follow up on reconciling items.- Manage the cost accounting allocation processes.- Work with program finance to resolve revenue/billing set up issues.- Ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly close activities.- Assist Corporate Accounting by performing various month-end and quarter-end analyses, including analyses of revenue, accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, backlog, etc.- Assist with coordination of information flow with both internal and external auditors.- Identify continuous improvement opportunities through automation and/or efficiency initiatives.- Lead accounting staff, including training employees and delegating work.- Support preparation of legal entity financial statements.- Assist with special project as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required.- 7+ years of relevant job experience.
- CPA preferred.- Government contracting industry expense preferred.- Costpoint experience preferred.- Experience with pool allocations and revenue/billing modules is a big plus.- Must possess proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting theory.- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment delivering results and quality services.- Demonstrated experience to execute multiple tasks simultaneously working a team or independently.- Excellent organization, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.- Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) cost principles preferred.- Ability to work longer hours during peak times.
