About the role

Summary: 

Child Mind Institute (CMI) is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Assistant to support our human resources team. The Human Resource Assistant will be responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resources department in the areas of recruiting, benefits, training, programs, and data management. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day HR responsibilities and initiatives and supports the employee experience. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Associate, this is a non-exempt, full-time, hybrid (minimum 3 -days in the office) position located at the CMI headquarters in New York City.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the delivery of HR services to include recruiting, onboarding, benefits, learning and development, performance management and HR policies and guidelines. 
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Stay up to date on the changing HR landscape and regulations and provide guidance on how they impact the organization. 
  • Responsible for employment related documents, to include offer letter generation, new hire orientation materials, recruiting, offboarding and exit interviews, updating job descriptions, I-9, FMLA, etc. 
  • Compile reports and prepare monthly dashboards. Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions for specific departments and the organization.
  • Assist in the administration of benefit enrollments and changes, and auditing of invoices. Research enrollment issues/discrepancies. 
  • Support recruiting activities to include posting open positions and processing background verifications. Provide the best possible experience for all candidates. 
  • Manage workflows within our applicant tracking system, candidate email templates, background checks, reference verifications, and offer and continually look for ways to improve our recruiting process.
  • Coordinate/schedule onboarding and new hire orientation for new employees. 
  • Share in the management of the Human Resources Inbox and provide HR policy guidance. Ensure timely, comprehensive responses and follow up to inquiries.
  • Recommend new approaches and processes to improve the efficiency and delivery of HR services. 
  • Facilitate the planning and execution of special events such as organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, lunches, staff parties, and related events. Attend events as an HR representative.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants and training providers to ensure trainings are delivered.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping human resource information confidential. 
  • Other related HR duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, a degree in Human Resources, Communications, or English preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in Human Resources.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters; must be able to operate with professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and possess sound decision-making skills. 
  • Must be organized, resourceful and detail oriented; able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Prior experience with an HRIS a plus.
