Job Summary:

Koret Group Exercise Instructors are responsible for designing group and small-group training programming to help the diverse clientele served by the RSD at the University of San Francisco (USF) reach their fitness goals in a safe and effective manner.

Full Job Description:

Provide detailed instruction to participants regarding safely performing a workout in a group setting.  Insure a safe workout environment by inspecting the facility, props and equipment prior to the beginning of each class session. Require participants to wear appropriate attire, practice correct form, and take water breaks at appropriate intervals in order to minimize risk and maximize safety in class. Provide feedback on the rate of perceived exertion during exercise, and provide instruction on modifying activity as needed.  Provide modifications and feedback to participants allowing everyone in class to perform appropriate to his/her abilities. In the event of an emergency, group exercise instructors report problems to the building supervisor on duty, or respond to an emergency if a first-responder.  Provide safe exercise recommendations to clients based on established industry guidelines; Report accurate attendance tracking at the conclusion of each class session. Secure all locked equipment at the conclusion of each class session. Educate clients on proper execution of exercises and proper use of equipment, including demonstrations, modifications and spotting; Coordinate weekly calendar and utilize whentowork to insure coverage for all class meetings. Perform ongoing inventory and inspection of props, training tools and workout equipment;

Interpret and apply Koret policies and procedures to maintain a safe workout environment; Act as a liaison between group exercise participants and the Fitness Coordinator; Maintain current certification in AED, CPR and Group Exercise. Complete continuing education courses in order to stay current on established industry standards of practice; Respond to minor and major emergencies, reporting all incidents to the Building Supervisor on Duty for proper documentation.

$25-$30/hour; commensurate with experience
