Job Description Summary

Summer Youth Drama Camp Counselors work in a team to plan and organize activities for up to 60 children ages 6-18 the week of August 4th -8th 2025. These activities will be offered to camp participants to supplement and support the theatre learning experience offered by the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT).

Job Description

Lead a week-long theater day camp with the incredible energy of kids and the magic of live performance! As a Theater Camp Counselor with the Performing Arts Series, you collaborate with Missoula Children's Theatre to help guide campers through an exciting, fast-paced week. Auditions kick off on Monday, roles are cast, and from there, the countdown to Friday night’s big show begins, when friends and family pack the audience to cheer them on. While campers rehearse with the directors, counselors lead engaging games, creative crafts, and activities that connect to the musical they’re performing. Throughout the week, counselors capture candid moments and character group photos (wrangling excited young actors for a photo is a true skill!) to share with families at the end of camp.

Beyond daily camp activities, counselors collaborate in advance to plan and design the week’s crafts, games, and themed decorations. On show day, the lobby is transformed into a surprise themed space for the campers before they take the stage. This role builds experience in leadership, planning, teamwork with peers, creativity, working with children, and gaining firsthand insight into what goes into producing a show. No theater background is required (but helpful), just enthusiasm, collaboration, and a desire to create an unforgettable week for campers
