This position provides training support for EHR end users for all clinic locations. This position also serves as a clinic float and provides care and support to patients under the direction of the physician or advance practice practitioner.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provides classroom education, one-on-one and roaming support for end users utilizing EHR software. Conducts needs and skills assessments for end users to determine the type and duration of training needed. Updates and refines training program components based on user needs.
  • Assists managers in establishing educational goals and plans regarding clinical applications for the department/clinic, for a specific group of employees, or a single employee with educational needs.
  • Performs triage duties relating to telephone and direct patient care by obtaining appropriate information with diligence and accuracy. Makes nursing assessment utilizing, theory, judgement, and patient information. Implements appropriate care using nursing assessment and/or provider preferences.
  • Rooms patients and reviews health history; addresses preventative maintenance issues. Accurately collects and records data as appropriate at the patient contact and requirements of Meaningful Use and The Joint Commission.
  • Establishes teaching protocols for patient education, family counseling, general public information, and staff. Possesses the ability to perform educational assessment and patient/family teaching whenever needed and is able to communicate instructions to patients/families that are clear and concise. Instructions are geared to the level of a neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient’s level of understanding. Follows through with comprehensive documentation.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of all medical procedures/exams and specialized equipment utilized within the clinic as it relates to the specific specialty of the office. Will be accountable in complying with Universal Protocol policies. Has the ability to utilize protective devices as needed to maintain integrity of medical treatments, as necessary. Responsible for executing scheduled cleaning/maintenance of equipment and has knowledge of medical equipment repair processes. Able to handle decontamination and sterilization requirements of all clinic equipment.
  • Assists with appointment scheduling of office visits/referrals/diagnostic testing/therapies/surgery. Responsible for working with the pre-authorization department and/or insurance companies to initiate referrals and obtain approvals, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations for medical care and treatment.
  • Administers medication by all routes (including intravenous as necessary) as ordered by the provider. Demonstrates and understands administration techniques. Recognizes the implications of dosages, interactions, side effects, adverse effects, routes of administration of drugs as they apply to individual patients. Adheres to all Fort HealthCare Medication policies.
  • Communicates and/or completes provider orders to outside sources (i.e. pharmacy, other clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.). Also assists in the completion of various medical forms (i.e. RTW, school forms, DOT, workers compensation, consent forms, FMLA).
