Description
Taunton State Hospital is seeking a Lead Kitchen Services Worker II. The successful candidate will supervise dietary workers (KSW I titles), oversee and participate in the meal service, and ensure sanitary standards and practices are maintained by cleaning and washing equipment in work area.
Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work on the day shift from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The days off are Wednesday and Thursday.
Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Exercises direct supervision and assigns work to dietary workers (KSW I) in meal service and in cleaning tasks on a meal-by-meal basis daily.
- Inspects kitchen and dining room for cleanliness and adherence to state sanitary codes using check lists.
- Trains dietary workers and provides instruction on the protocols of the dietary department.
- Supervises meal service to ensure correct diets are served and that there is proper portioning according to the menu daily.
- Takes direction from cook in charge in food related issues and relays information to subordinate staff.
- Serves food and keeps serving counters supplied with food and beverages on a meal-by-meal basis daily.
- Helps with catering when assigned and fills out food requisitions for the units.
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must have one year of full time or equivalent part time experience in food service work such as in a hotel, restaurant, cafeteria, catering firm, government or private institution or any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions: A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school at the high school level or higher with a major in home economics, culinary arts, food services or trades may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
