Job Description Summary

The Senior Associate Director of Disability Services serves in both supervisory and student advising roles in the Weingarten Center. The Senior Associate Director advocates for the inclusion of students with disabilities and assists the university in maintaining compliance with federal disability statutes and university policies. The Associate Director handles a student caseload and reviews medical documentation to determine reasonable accommodations and support services, advises students, provides case management services, and makes referrals to other resources. The position has a broad knowledge of different types of disabilities and medical conditions, accessibility standards and practices, and academic accommodations and adjustments, and serves as a resource on disability inclusion and accessibility to the university community. The Senior Associate Director provides supervisory support to a team of disability specialists and is responsible for handling performance reviews. The Senior Associate Director coordinates with the Disability Services staff in periodic review and update of policies and procedures in accordance with changing standards and best practices, participates in programming and outreach events on behalf of the department, and performs other duties as assigned. The Senior Associate Director is part of the Weingarten Center leadership team.

Job Responsibilities

Provide Case Management Services for Students with Disabilities

• Reviews documentation conducts intake interviews and follow up meetings, recommends academic accommodations and adjustments.
• Makes referrals to other campus and community resources
• Advocates for the inclusion of disabled students in university programs and services to eliminate barriers in accordance with the ADA.

Supervisory Role

• Guides and supervises disability specialists and provides ongoing feedback, handles performance evaluations, and develops professional development opportunities for the team. 

Accessibility Education

• Functions as a resource on disability inclusion and accessibility to students, faculty, staff, families, and the university community.
• Disability policies/protocols
• Participates in the review and update of departmental policies and procedures.
• Remains current with caselaw and best practices in accessibility in higher education.

Outreach to University Community

• Represents Disability Services and the Weingarten Center through presentations and outreach events during New Student Orientation, Quaker Days, and other venues.
