The Spare Parts Planner is an individual contributor within the Plant Integration Central Support team responsible for performing the spare parts planning and inventory development activities required to support new generation projects across the RRE fleet. This role performs the hands-on work necessary to establish complete, accurate, and maintainable spare parts inventories prior to facility turnover, commissioning, and operation.

 

The Spare Parts Planner is responsible for reviewing EPC and vendor spare parts recommendations, validating spare parts data against equipment manuals and project documentation, developing Bill of Materials and inventory records within Maximo, preparing stock justification documentation, making stocking recommendations, and supporting inventory readiness activities. The position works closely with Plant Integration Team Leads, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors to ensure spare parts are established in accordance with Duke Energy inventory requirements and Plant Integration procedures. The role may also provide technical guidance and quality review support to contract personnel and matrixed project resources as needed.

  • Develop spare parts inventories, BOMs, stock justifications, and Maximo inventory records for new generation projects.

  • Validate spare parts data, vendor recommendations, and inventory records to ensure quality and compliance with inventory standards

  • Schedule and track work status. Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, EPC contractors, and vendors to support inventory readiness and resolve spare parts issues.

  • Provide technical guidance and quality review support for contract Spare Parts personnel while supporting inventory process improvements and standardization effort

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certification AND 2 years minimum required related work experience

  • In lieu of degree and experience listed above, Highschool/GED AND 5 years of minimum required related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing spare parts inventories, Bills of Material (BOMs), and stocking strategies for power generation or industrial facilities.

  • Experience reviewing vendor spare parts recommendations, equipment manuals, engineering documentation, and project deliverables to determine inventory requirements.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management principles, spare parts criticality assessment, and warehouse stocking practices.

  • Experience developing stock justification documentation and supporting inventory catalog additions.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining inventory, BOM, and material records within Maximo or similar Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) platforms.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and process drawings, technical publications, and equipment manuals.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate spare parts requirements and make sound stocking recommendations.

  • Experience working with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance, quality review support, and collaborate effectively with contract personnel and project stakeholders.

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to demonstrate problem solving ability

  • Must be motivated to work independently

  • Must have strong organization skills

  • Possess strong Computer skills, including databases, word processing, spreadsheets.

  • Power plant operations and maintenance experience

  • Electrical experience

  • Maximo CMMS experience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • SharePoint experience

  • Procore / PIMS experien
