    • Temporary hourly-intermittent Student Assistant position in Psychological Counseling Services (CAPS) at the Stockton campus.


    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after August 18, 2025 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Well-Being Ambassadors (WBAs) serve as student leaders and advocates for mental health, wellness, and self-care on campus. Their role is to help create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages help-seeking, community engagement, and overall student well-being.

      Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Promote mental health awareness and CAPS services through peer-to-peer engagement.
      • Participate in campus table events, health fairs, and student organization collaborations.
      • Share resources and educational materials related to mental health, self-care, and wellness.
      • Serve as a positive role model and source of support among peers.
      • Assist in planning, preparing, and facilitating wellness-focused workshops and events (e.g., mindfulness, journaling, stress management, substance use prevention).
      • Coordinate logistics for workshops, including room reservations, materials, refreshments, and attendance tracking.
      • Support set-up and break-down of CAPS events, including tabling and interactive activities.
      • Introduce speakers or lead peer-led components of workshops as appropriate
      • Help design and distribute flyers, posters, and digital content for events and CAPS programming.
      • Engage students through social media outreach, if applicable.
      • Provide feedback and insight on what mental health topics are most relevant to the student body
      • Attend regular team meetings and training sessions led by CAPS staff.
      • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when representing CAPS.
      • Collaborate with campus departments and student groups to co-host wellness events and initiatives.
      • Uphold CAPS’ values of inclusion, equity, and accessibility in all outreach efforts
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • We encourage students from a wide variety of disciplines to apply, including Psychology, Social Work, or Communications.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Prefer student at the junior level or above with experience in any of the following will be considered: qualitative and/or quantitative research skills, working knowledge of Office database/process management, data visualization techniques, graphic design (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Canva), web design, and social media content development.
      • Interest in mental health, peer education, or community wellness
      • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
      • Willingness to participate in training and ongoing learning

      Required Qualifications:
      • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in a diverse environment with students, staff, and faculty.
      • Strong critical thinking skills.
      • Ability to work in a collaborative environment on real-life problems.
      • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units. 
    • Salary Range
    • $16.50 per hour.
