Role Description
Dropbox quality Engineering is going through a major revamp with a brand new charter focused on improving developer productivity. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to help our team to build products effortlessly. You will be the foundational member of the newly formed SDETs that will focus on building automation strategy, and frameworks for both Frontend and Backend Engines. You will work with a motivated team to define quality and the metrics by which we will track it. You'll help instill the processes and procedures we'll need to live up to that standard. You will ensure that we build the highest levels of trust with our members by making our product lightning fast, available, and secure.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-quality test automation solutions and leverage best-in-class frameworks, enhance and develop it to fit our complex backend systems
- Lead the development of Test Strategies, Test processes, and Quality Metrics that shows impact
- Work closely with developers, product management, and cross functional agile teams to ensure full test coverage
- Identify and communicate risks about our releases. Look beyond the area of responsibility and ensure our products delivers value to our customers.
- Actively participate in Agile development, testing and CI/CD methodologies
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years experience in building automation framework
- Extensive experience developing test automation or software applications using languages such as Python, Golang, C/C++, or Java
- Exceptional attention to detail, deep engagement in product design, and a constant focus on customer experience
- Experience developing and maintaining continuous integration and test pipeline tools (e.g. Docker, Jenkins)
- Experience in Selenium, API, and server backend test automation

For candidates hired in San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $206,600 - $243,000 - $279,500.
For candidates hired in the following locations: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington (outside Seattle metro) and Washington DC metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $185,900 - $218,700 - $251,500.
For candidates hired in all other US locations, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for this role is currently $165,200 - $194,400 - $223,600.
Range(s) is subject to change. Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
