Job Description

This role will be based in Mountain View, California. 

We’re looking for a highly skilled and creative Staff Communication Designer to join our dynamic Communication Design Team. On the Communication Design Team, we partner with the LinkedIn Executive Team and cross-functional team members to craft compelling, narrative-driven presentations that have a significant impact-at-scale. Using innovative and strategic methods, we enhance stories and experiences to effectively communicate with targeted audiences, both internally and externally at LinkedIn.  

  Responsibilities: 

  • Drives strategy and visions for design initiatives, creating high-quality, narrative-driven presentations for large offsite events, all-hands meetings, and other related design assets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand guidelines 

  • Collaborate directly with senior leadership, (SVPs, Chiefs of Staff) and cross-functional teams to understand design needs, delivering effective, visually compelling solutions 

  • Effectively communicate design rationale to stakeholders and cross functional partners and integrate feedback to refine designs ensuring continuous improvement 

  • Translate complex business and communication objectives into clear, engaging, and visually appealing presentations and design assets, considering the broader impact on the entire project or event 

  • Manage time effectively and set clear boundaries with partners across multiple initiatives, ensuring work meets deadlines and expectations, in a fast-paced environment 

  • Develop dynamic animations and interactive elements to enhance storytelling and engagement within presentations, using motion and cinematic techniques to convey complex content simply 

  • Adhere to brand guidelines and design principles (layout, color theory, typography, hierarchy) for consistency across all materials 

  • Create and maintain branded templates and resource libraries in tools such as PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Stay up to date on design trends and emerging technologies to enhance presentation quality and storytelling methods, while developing processes to improve team and company efficiency 

  • Work outside typical 9-5 hours and travel to events as needed to meet project deadlines and expectations 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to handle diverse design challenges 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree in graphic design, design communication, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 7 + years of experience in graphic/visual design, with a focus on presentation design 

  • 5 + years of experience working directly with C-Level Executives, advocating for design best practices and presenting design rationale 

  • Expertise in industry standard tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects, etc.) 

  • To be considered for this position, you must include your portfolio, website or other samples of work demonstrating design expertise 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong experience in delivering large-scale projects independently; Projects are forward-thinking and shape the future of the business; Subject matter expert who regularly/recurrently partners with executives and functional org areas 

  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategy and vision for respective projects and teams 

  • Strong ability to deliver design solutions for unstructured problems that have many dependencies 

  • Excellent ability in visual communication 

  • Experience in solving unstructured problems that have few dependencies; Embraces ambiguity and can transform it into effective, actionable plans 

  • Strong ability to contribute ideas that influence product strategy on adjacent teams  

  • Experience using collaboration tools such as Teams, Slack, and Airtable

  • Experience using Figma
