S&P Global Commodity Insights, a premier sector-focused news and information provider, is looking to expand our Commodity Briefing Service team, part of the S&P Global Market Intelligence offering. In this dynamic role, you will take responsibility for developing and overseeing production of a monthly Steel & Ferrous Scrap CBS report, and other content, guiding the relevant analysts where applicable, and supporting client engagement initiatives in North America and the Americas. You will launch new forecasts and analysis, based on supply and demand fundamentals, policy initiatives and other factors.

Our clients include a cross section of the broader Metals, Minerals and Mining sector from steel producers, mining companies, traders, vendors, consultants, regulators/governments and all those that operate within the financial and commodities markets such as Investment Banks, Investment Managers, Hedge Funds, Brokers, etc. We are a multinational organization that has built a robust franchise on data collection and standardization, layering on proprietary news and research, employing analysts, economists and geologists that are well regarded within the sector.
The Career Opportunity: In this high impact role, you will be responsible for lifting our analytical profile and expanding our footprint in the ferrous sector in North America through the development of new datasets and reports. As a thought leader, you will raise your presence as an authority on relevant commodities, supporting marketing and commercial initiatives focused on business objectives. You will get exposure to product development across teams, mentors, and work with experienced analysts on all aspects of the commodities value chain, as well as contribute to research across a wide range of other mined commodities and relevant downstream sectors. Requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience in a ferrous role, be educated to degree level or above, and have an enthusiastic and keen approach to learning and developing on their existing knowledge of commodity markets.
Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:
Development and mentorship of team of analysts covering steel and ferrous scrap
Assessing impacts of energy transition efforts on future demand for relevant commodities
Researching, analyzing and publishing commentary on topical events pertinent to the ferrous and aluminium sectors
Ensuring regular publishing and production of price forecasts, quarterly reports, and topical analysis
Participation in business development activities and external representations as required, such as at conferences or client roadshows
Communication on and defence of your work to clients
Some business travel as required
Qualifications:
Expert-level experience as a commodity analyst in the ferrous sector, preferably with direct exposure to a broader suite of commodities as well
Understanding of environmental, social and governance concerns pertinent to the mining industry
Degree educated, for example including mining finance, engineering, chemical disciplines, economics or business
Advanced MS Excel Skills
Solid numeric analytical and problem solving capabilities
Familiarity with VBA, and SQL and/o
