Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Product Definition Engineer to support the Mechanical Systems, Externals, & Nacelles (MSEN) organization.
What You Will Do:
- Perform Product Definition (checking) of engineering product definition per part family Product Definition ESW (Engineering Standard Work) standards and design intent; Ensure accurate part interrelationships through tolerance and geometric studies.
- Collaborate with Mechanical System Engineer(s) to develop MSEN Engine parts. (Ex/ Bearing Housing & Supports/Bearing Compartment Hardware, Carbon Seals, Castings, Oil Tanks, and Gears).
- Verify the complete accuracy of parametric 3D Siemens NX models and definitions. Definition could be 2D associative drawing definition or Model Based Definition (MBD); Review parametric 3D models and other definition files to Design intent and Product Definition standard work using the UGS NX graphics software review model/print files (using the UGS NX graphics software) meeting Product Definition standard work which includes the application of tolerancing techniques per part family Engineering Standard Work while considering producibility and design intent.
- Participate in IPTs (Integrated Product Teams) as Product Definition delegate, and Team focal for CIPT (Component Integrated Product Team) coordination and communications.
- Prepare/Maintain various product-related Teamcenter/NX Manager data in support of Pratt & Whitney Class I and II Engineering activities.
- Lead a team of Product Definition practitioners, and Act as mentor/coach and provide training to lower-level Product Definition practitioners.
- Estimate and coordinate task resource allocations, including Outsource resources; Estimate manpower and schedules for Product Definition deliverables. Including creating and managing statements of work to support outsourcing requirements.
- Travel Requirement: 10% (Domestic).
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes drafting and product definition work, as well as applied ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) expertise.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong skills in NX and Teamcenter tools and processes.
- Experience in Model-Based Definition.
- Active or transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Mechanical Systems, Externals, & Nacelles (MSEN): The MSEN Engineering organization is responsible for the design, development, and in-service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings, gears, and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.
