We provide emergency services such as shelter and meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness. We offer supportive housing and addiction recovery programs that promote self-sufficiency, sustainable transformation, and stability. Job Purpose


Works with guests and residents on reducing barriers and achieving goals towards stability. Shares the responsibility of maintaining a safe, clean, hospitable, and dignifying environment for all guests and residents; assisting in the provision of trauma-informed, person-first, and grace-based program services to meet the need of all who seek TRM’s care.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assesses client strengths, goals, and barriers to housing and self-sufficiency.
  • Documents client information and transactions in the HMIS and Apricot databases.
  • Keeps HMIS and Apricot data current and accurate.
  • Creates a written tailored plan based on client goals that identifies specific action steps the client needs to take.
  • Meets with clients on caseload each week to monitor progress in achieving goals and revising action plans when necessary.
  • Establishes a hard copy file for each client that includes verification of homelessness, verification of income and income source, and documentation of case plan and action steps. These files remain the property of the agency and must be kept on site in a secure area.
  • Connects clients with the Coordinated Entry Case Managers if appropriate or with other community resources that can help them reach their goals.
  • Keeps informed of current community resources that can help clients.
  • Administer urinalysis and breathalyzer tests for shelter guests as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Working Conditions


Primarily in an office setting with some travel to off-site locations. Interacts with diverse populations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Social Services or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience working with low-income, diverse populations preferred.
  • Experience offering case management services.
  • Skilled in clear and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment using effective and thoughtful interactions and communication.
  • Able to respond calmly and effectively when under stress interacting with people who have high barriers, including but not limited to people with mental illness, who may be under the influences of various substances, may have weapons, and/or may be prone to violence.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
  • Basic operating knowledge of office equipment, computers, and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Access to a vehicle for frequent travel throughout Pierce County and TRM locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Remains in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Occasionally moves to respond to urgent situations.
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.<
