Job Description

The Employee Relations Business Partner (ERBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This is a dual role in which the Business Partner will support Corporate (Headquarter-HQ) employees as well as close escalated Employee Relations investigations. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The ERBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition. The area of focus extends to a strong ER background across the US with strong knowledge of California labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Business Partner:

  • Directly support managers by assisting them in carrying out their responsibilities with regard to people related matters; this includes interpreting and advising on employment policies, programs, and guidelines
  • Collaborate with business leaders amongst all departments to tackle sophisticated organizational challenges, with a focus on developing and executing strategies to help onboard, retain, develop, and compensate talent
  • Ensure operational excellence initiatives including talent reviews, workforce planning, talent analytics, headcount, performance management, succession planning, etc. and overall process improvement
  • Understand and use People and Culture KPIs to advise the business on actions and guidance given.
  • Hold regular People and Culture meetings with managers in their respective area of responsibility
  • Coordinate and conduct employee feedback sessions with managers as appropriate; assist management with action planning
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures as part of continuous improvement
  • Assist with staff development for HQ Employees
  • Participate in committees and special projects and seek additional responsibilities as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Employee Relations Business Partner:

  • Ensure all US Employee Relations cases are fully investigated and presented for closure within 7-10 calendar days
  • Design and execute strategies for a high population of non-exempt employees
  • Partner closely with management teams and HR Business Partners on ER-related concerns, including employee discipline, underperformance, and other related matters
  • Recognize patterns and anticipate employee-related issues; Develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution according to policies and procedures
  • Develop, implement, update, and maintain current and relevant HR policies aligned with industry best practices
  • Manage SIXT’s Team Member Handbook for annual updates
  • Work closely with in-house employment counsel and Business Partner Manager to identify any trends

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or relevant business area; master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, SHRM or SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in human resources, with at least two years as a business partner
  • Minimum three years of experience in Employee Relations Investigations
  • Ability to conduct and close escalated Employee Relations investigations in a high non-exempt employee environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the US is required; some international travel
