GENERAL FUNCTION:

Directs a significant portion of the individual and/or trust account business activities through the direct management of client assets and the supervision of a team of Portfolio Managers. Responsible for the daily oversight, supervision and development of team members in all business matters including Human Resources, Operations, Finance and Legal/Compliance. Focuses team on providing superior investment management, client service, and new business efforts. Acts independently within established investment policy guidelines to develop, recommend, and execute investment programs designed to achieve the objectives of client accounts with multiple levels of complexity. Capable of independently handling and overseeing the most complex relationships while delivering an exceptional client experience and achieving sales and retention goals.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Oversees a team of Portfolio Managers, developing satisfied clients, business partners and new sources of asset management revenue through frequent contact. Personally handles select portfolios/relationships of some of the largest and most complex client accounts.

·       Responsible for achieving financial and qualitative performance metrics including client service, investment management, sales support and compliance goals, individually and as a team. Establishes annual goals and expectations and drives accountability for goal obtainment.

·       Ensures consistent One Bank execution, including One Bank meetings, pre-call planning, and post-call follow-up to win new business opportunities.

·       Consults with major client relationships to develop investment objectives and implement suitable investment plans, maintaining an Investment Policy Statement for each relationship.

·       Embraces and incorporates Managing Money the Fifth Third Way as referred to in the Investment Management Group story in approach to portfolio management of all client accounts.

·       Ensures strong relationships with Trust/Account Officers to understand intentions of trust and/or agency agreements and identify appropriate investment policy to accomplish client objectives.

·       Ensures assets are invested according to investment policy guidelines, delivering a competitive rate of return with the given level of risk and best interest of the client.

·       Meets with prospects and clients, preparing and presenting proposals for investment management. Provides team guidance and support for their new business development.

·       Regularly engages with other members of the Wealth Management Team and external advisors to ensure effective communication regarding client objectives and coordinate portfolio changes.

·       Maintains awareness of new investment strategies, trends, techniques and products through regular contact with other industry professionals and through internal and external research, and brings new ideas to management.

·       Keeps informed of market trends and analyze the effect of these trends on client’s investment portfolio.

·       Keeps current on the legal and tax issues with respect to investment decisions by consulting attorneys, accountants and other resources as needed.

·       Stays aware of any changes in the areas of risk management and compliance that result in necessary changes in policy. 

·       Ensures annual account reviews and minimizes and/or documents exceptions.

·       Works with management to develop business strategies, policies and procedures.  Works to improve internal processes and build efficiencies within the  area.  Shares best practices.

Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback. Developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth. Developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED:

·       Bachelor’s degree required. A major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administr
