Job Summary

The Head of Advancement supports the mission of Rejoice Christian School by providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for advancement-related functions, including Development and Marketing/Communications, while working in close partnership with the Admissions Office to support healthy, mission-aligned enrollment.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role integrates fundraising strategy, brand storytelling, and enrollment collaboration to advance institutional sustainability and mission impact. The Head of Advancement cultivates a culture of generosity, strengthens community engagement, and ensures that external-facing efforts are unified, compelling, and aligned with RCS’s Christ-centered mission.

In practice, this position serves as the school’s senior leader for revenue-growth strategy through philanthropy and advancement initiatives, helping ensure that generosity, messaging, and engagement efforts are mission-aligned, coordinated, and sustainable.

Qualifications

Must be a committed Christian who demonstrates a Christ-centered lifestyle.
Active member in good standing of a local church.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in advancement, development, marketing, nonprofit management, or related fields (Christian education preferred).
Proven success in fundraising, donor relations, communications, or brand leadership.
Strong relational, communication, and leadership skills.
Strategic thinker with strong execution, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated integrity, emotional intelligence, and commitment to mission and culture.

Essential Functions

Strategic Institutional Leadership
Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to schoolwide strategy, organizational health, and mission advancement.
Develop and execute a comprehensive Advancement strategy integrating Development and Marketing/Communications, in coordination with Admissions leadership.
Balance growth initiatives with stewardship of RCS’s Christ-centered culture, ensuring that strategic decisions strengthen—not dilute—the school’s mission and community.
Establish annual and long-term goals related to philanthropic growth, brand visibility, and community engagement.
Advise the Head of School and School Board on advancement strategy, philanthropic trends, communications effectiveness, and enrollment-related insights as appropriate.
Champion and model the RCS Portrait of a Graduate and Characteristics of Professional Excellence, ensuring advancement efforts reflect “Follow Christ Daily, Grow in Wisdom, Love Their Neighbors, Lead with Courage, and Flourish with Excellence” through integrity, stewardship, and servant leadership.

Development & Donor Relations

Lead all fundraising efforts including annual giving (Rise Above Fund), major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, grants, and special initiatives.
Build and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, cultivating meaningful relationships that result in sustained philanthropic investment.
Oversee donor stewardship, recognition, and reporting to ensure transparency, trust, and gratitude.
Oversee and coordinate partnership with the Opportunity Scholarship Fund (OSF), ensuring alignment with RCS’s mission, advancement goals, and compliance requirements.
Provide leadership for signature advancement events such as the Gala, Golf Tournament, and Partners’ Meetings.
Provide coordination and oversight for campus-wide fundraising efforts to ensure consistency, stewardship, and mission alignment (e.g., Athletics/Boosters, clubs, Student Council, grade-level initiatives, and program-based fundraising), in collaboration with the Head of School and relevant program leaders. This includes establishing clear guidelines, approval processes, and messaging support so all fundraising reflects the RCS mission and protects donor trust.

Admissions Collaboration & Enrollment Strategy

Partner closely with the Head of Admissions to support a warm, mission-centered, and relationship-driven enrollment process.
Collaborate on long-term enrollment strategy, including pipeline development, retention initiatives, and market analysis, while respecting established reporting structures.
Champion the enrollment of families who align with RCS’s Christ-centered mission, values, and culture, recognizing that cultural fit and spiritual partnership are essential to the long-term health of the school community.
