The AI Security Tools and Architecture Subject Matter Expert (SME) will focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Their primary responsibility will be to design, implement, maintain, integrate and deploy security tools and solutions that leverage AI and protect AI data and systems from vulnerabilities, threats, and malicious attacks. This role requires deep understanding of AI technologies combined with cybersecurity principles to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of AI models and data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy security tools that monitor and protect AI models and infrastructures.

• Identify vulnerabilities specific to AI systems, such as adversarial attacks, model poisoning, and data leakage.

• Collaborate with AI developers and security teams to integrate security best practices into AI development lifecycles.

• Conduct risk assessments and threat modeling for AI applications.

• Stay updated with emerging AI threats, security frameworks, and compliance requirements.

• Implement secure data governance and privacy-preserving techniques for AI datasets.

• Perform penetration testing and incident response related to AI systems.

• Educate stakeholders on AI security risks and mitigation strategies.

Work Experience:

• Typically, 3-7 years of experience in cybersecurity, AI development, or a hybrid role involving both AI and security.

• Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and understanding AI model lifecycle security.

• Practical knowledge of security tools and techniques such as intrusion detection systems, encryption, secure coding, and vulnerability assessment.

• Experience working with tools such as Cranium.AI, Splx.ai, Simplix, etc.

• Experience in threat modeling and mitigating adversarial AI attacks.

• Familiarity with regulatory standards related to data privacy and security (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

• Experience working in interdisciplinary teams bridging AI research, software development, and security operations.

-Familiarity with applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) techniques in cybersecurity contexts (e.g., anomaly detection, threat hunting, behavioral analytics, or risk scoring).

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.

• A Master’s degree or higher in Cybersecurity, AI, or Information Security can be highly advantageous, especially for advanced roles.

• Relevant certifications such as:

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

• AI-related certifications (e.g., AI Security Specialist certifications, if available)

• Cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security - Specialty)

Additional Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Deep understanding of both AI algorithms and cybersecurity principles.

• Ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proactive learning mindset to keep up with evolving AI threats and security technologies.

• Collaboration skills to work effectively across AI, security, and business teams.

Our Lead Cybersecurity earns between $128,400-$192,600 USD Annual Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
