Pay Rate: $15.00

Key Components: 

This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. 

  • In a student employee capacity, may assist in working with external community service partners.
  • The Grant Writing Intern’s primary responsibilities will be working with Charity Champions to find grants to help bring funding to these nonprofits. The expectations of the interns are to:
    • Identify 10 viable grants, and draft 5 proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations each semester. At least 3 of those proposals need to be finalized and submitted by each semester’s end.
    • 50% of clocked-in time, must be spent working at organization’s offices.
    • Research potential leads for government, corporate and foundation grants
    • Research statistics, facts and relevant local and national information to support each of the Charity Champions
    • Comply with all grant reporting as required by government/foundations/corporate donors
    • Will be expected to attend weekly meeting with intern team to update on progress of their work and have at least 1 “touch point” meeting with organization they serve per week.
    • Analyze and identify needs within the nonprofits that grants will support

Job Description:

  • May assist with various projects, activities or tasks related to community projects
  • May contribute to developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external partners
  • May serve as a source to provide information about resources and assistance related to community program(s) or service(s)
  • May serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community 
  • Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
  • May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission  
  • Ability to comply with University policies  
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
