Position Overview
The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking to hire a Human Resources Specialist for the Bureau of Payroll and Benefits located in Springfield, Illinois to serve as an Employee Benefits Coordinator. Organizes, plans, executes, controls, and evaluates benefits offered to employees in DHS, including but not limited to State of Illinois health, dental and life insurance, retirement, Deferred Compensation, Flexible Spending, Commuter Savings, and Sick Leave Bank, for an assigned area. Explains State benefits and procedures for enrollment to DHS employees and resolves discrepancies. Coordinates the DHS Unemployment Claims Program and serves as back-up Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Coordinator for the Department. Serves as designated lead worker and assists lower-level benefits staff. Travels in performance of job duties.
Essential Functions
- Serves as Employee Benefits Coordinator for the Department of Human Services (DHS).
- Coordinates the DHS Unemployment Claims Program. Serves as a liaison with Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), researches claims and provides information regarding the circumstances related to an employee’s separation from DHS.
