Description

Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset has an excellent opportunity for a part-time Physician Assistant to join its Urgent Ortho Care team. The Physician Assistant will provide care at the Great Neck location.

Established in 1971, OAM provides its communities with advanced, accessible, and vertically integrated orthopedic care. With 18 sub-specialty trained physicians practicing in two locations, OAM is the premier multi-specialty orthopaedic practice in its markets. The physicians provide expertise in the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries including sports medicine, minimally invasive orthopedic spine surgery, total joint replacement, foot/ankle, hand/upper extremity, trauma, and pain management. OAM also offers onsite digital imaging and state-of-the-art physical therapy and MRI.

Highlights:

Summary: The provider will work in the Urgent Ortho Care Center and assess and treat urgent musculoskeletal injuries. The part-time schedule includes Thursday and Friday, 5pm-8pm, Saturday and Sunday, 12pm-4pm.

  • Performs and documents history and physicals of walk-in patients
  • Evaluates and treats injuries including sprains, strains, fractures, wound care and post op problems
  • Performs in-office procedures such as cast/splint placements, wound care and managing infection
  • Orders X-rays and other diagnostic tests as needed
  • Consistently and accurately documents all calls, treatments, medications, etc. in patient chart
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding diagnosis and follow up steps
  • Responds to all patient questions
  • Assists physicians in addressing urgent patient needs as necessary
  • Maintains clinical information with additions/corrections as needed
  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree
  • NCCPA Certified
  • NYS PA license
  • DEA license
  • Minimum of one-year orthopedic or emergency room experience preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure (with physician on-call)
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
