Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is independent, administrative work assisting management in the operation of the Public Health Toxicology Section. Incumbent regularly assigns, reviews and coordinates clerical assignments to keep workloads balanced and priorities handled. Assures that adequate support is provided to the radon and toxicology section staff. Receives, reviews, distributes assignments to appropriate personnel and ensures timely action.
The position regularly serves as a resource person to section staff in resolving department policy and procedural questions and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. The incumbent will coordinate purchase requests when needed and executes proper procedures for office operations, correspondence, purchasing and grant routing.
Employee will coordinate aspects of the free radon test kit program, including but not limited to tracking free radon test kit requests, communicating with the vendor, drafting invoices and communicating with clients.
Employee will coordinate with radon certification specialist to review and issue applications, send certificates and keep proper documentation. Employee will send late report emails to radon businesses after receiving approval from the certification specialist and perform quality assurance on radon data for accuracy.
Employee will handle all aspects of the annual poster and video contests including outreach to middle and high school teachers to increase awareness and participation in the contest. Incumbent will review and track submittals, organize meetings to judge submissions and announce and notify winners.
Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor within established timeframes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Typing skills, proofreading skills/attention to detail, technology (computer, fax, copier), people skills (dealing with people in person and on telephone), and organization skills.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Two years experience
