JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Penn State offers a full-time twelve-month Doctoral Internship designed to provide high quality training in the multiple functions carried out within a major university counseling center. The Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. Intensively supervised experiences are offered in individual and group counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, assessment and diagnosis, consultation/outreach, research, supervision/training, and other activities appropriate to the setting. Professional development is fostered within the context of a service-delivery system, which has a long-standing tradition of dedication to excellence in training.
Typical Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires current enrollment in a Doctoral Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or combined program that is APA or CPA accredited.
Additional Required Competencies:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program in clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a combined program that is APA or CPA accredited. Typically requires at least 350 hours of pre-internship practicum experience. All coursework and qualifying exams required for the doctorate must be completed before the internship.
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
