We are looking for a Senior Liability Underwriter (m/f/d), based in Antwerp.

Join our high-performing Liability Underwriting team for Belgium, where expertise meets collaboration. Our team includes professionals across Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark who work closely with global colleagues. We manage a diverse and sophisticated portfolio of corporate clients and thrive on developing tailored liability solutions that anticipate future challenges. 

 

The Impact You Will Have 

As Senior Liability Underwriter, based in Antwerp and reporting to the Regional head of Liability, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the liability underwriting strategy in Belgium. You will be responsible for underwriting complex and technical risks, engaging with senior-level stakeholders internally and externally, and mentoring junior colleagues to elevate our underwriting excellence. 

 

What You Will Do 

• Own and grow a profitable book of corporate liability business, focusing on mid-sized and large clients across various industries. 

• Lead negotiations with brokers and clients, ensuring a proactive and strategic approach to both acquisition and retention. 

• Evaluate and underwrite complex risks, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines, pricing adequacy, and risk appetite. 

• Collaborate with Distribution and Claims, contributing to cross-sell opportunities and providing technical insight for client solutions. 

• Contribute to product development and innovative wordings aligned with local and global market trends. 

• Represent Allianz Commercial in industry forums and client meetings as a senior technical expert. 

• Coach and support more junior underwriters, sharing best practices and helping to build a strong technical community within the region. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

• At least 5–8 years of experience in Liability underwriting for corporate clients. 

• Strong track record in managing complex accounts and broker relationships. 

• Profound understanding of the Belgian liability insurance market and legal framework. 

• Strategic mindset with excellent negotiation and communication skills. 

• Proven ability to work independently and influence decision-making at senior levels. 

• Strong analytical thinking, technical expertise, and commercial acumen. 

• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus. 

• Interest in leveraging digital tools and AI to enhance underwriting excellence.
