Job Description:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes and products meet all specifications and requirements. This role involves suggesting, implementing, and maintaining effective practices throughout the manufacturing environment. The Quality Engineer must also respond quickly and effectively when any out-of-specification conditions arise. As a key member of the Quality team, the Quality Engineer will be actively involved in establishing, implementing, and managing both existing and new quality initiatives.

This position is located at our Fayetteville, TN location.

THE DAY TO DAY...

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review the manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost-effective production

  • Provide Quality Engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques

  • Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources

  • Effectively communicate and reinforce company commitment to quality improvement efforts

  • Determine when process capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness

  • Participate and coordinate with other departments (i.e.: Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Tooling, Operations, etc.) product Quality planning activities to determine the appropriate use of existing and new products and processes     

  • Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action

  • Drive continuous improvement and elimination of waste using KPI metrics

  • Responsible and accountable for the performance of the Quality team/group

  • Define and help resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

THE QUALIFICATIONS...

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Operations and/or Technical discipline required

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred

  • Minimum 2 years experience with certified quality management system (e.g. TS 16949, ISO)

  • Technical knowledge of steel fabrication and assembly processes

  • Project management experience

  • Capable of reviewing, understanding, and critiquing Engineering drawings

  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude

  • Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment

  • Firsthand experience in the creation of Control Plans and FMEA records

  • Solid understanding of the value of process auditing
