Vintner’s Distributors is the corporate arm for Loop Neighborhood Market and is based in Union City, Calif., with stores and stations across California. The company was founded in 1978 and develops real estate and owns and operates gas stations with convenience stores and car washes. Loop Neighborhood Market also has a wholesale division that delivers fuel to dealer locations in the market.


Role

The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team to conduct corporate accounting functions and period and quarter end closing processes. The role's primary focus will be to timely and accurately compile the period & quarter close schedules and support documentation, assist in the daily, weekly and period reconciliation procedures. 


Responsibilities

· Support & Review the JV Accounting Team in the periodic general ledger close, conduct financial reporting

· Conduct or review daily cash reconciliations between the bank and the sites in the entity

· Review staff work in daily entity cash projection by reviewing historical transactions by week and date of the month, the bank files for yesterday transactions and fuel operations invoices and drafts in the next biz day. 

· Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries, compile close support schedules, generate financial reports, and perform account reconciliations.

· Handle financial and government audits and in maintaining sound internal controls monitoring in compliance with bank, joint venture partner, state and federal requirements.

· Conduct documentation and regular update of existing internal control procedures & key aspects of accounting operations.

· Assist in Accounts Payable and other biz partners' monitoring where appropriate (e.g. HR payroll, AP rent payment and AR billing etc.)

· Communicate effectively with other functional departments to ensure accurate booking of expenses & revenue and accrual for period and quarter close.

· Perform special projects including US GAAP adoption process, reconciliation for the site subsidiary ledger to the General Ledger, fixed asset system maintenance for tax compilation purposes, data preparation and reporting for Annual Operating Plan and Capex planning processes.

Requirements

 Qualifications

· A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent is required.

· A strong command of US GAAP accounting principles.

· 3-5 years of accounting work 

· s hardworking, proactive and possesses a sense of urgency and hands on approach.

· Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and can work as a team to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Hands on with Excel and can work as a sole contributor to a team while also work as a team lead at times.

· Attention to detail, meticulous, organized and has integrity
