Staff Accountant I - External Reporting

This position will primarily assist with the preparation and compilation of all SEC filings and press releases. Recurring responsibilities will also include monthly reconciliation and analysis duties. This position will be required to review and research guidance from the SEC, FASB, and other authoritative bodies that are impactful to the Company’s accounting and external reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Monthly reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet accounts.
Monthly analytical review and reasonableness tests of various income and expense accounts.
Analysis of budget to actual variances.
Research and correct errors detected.
Perform monthly journal entries.
Perform queries and upload data to facilitate systems interface.
Prepare schedules for board and director packets for use in board meetings.
Prepare management reports as requested.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial schedules used for debt compliance.
Prepare quarterly and annual financial schedules used for external reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules used for US Census Bureau reporting.
Assist with drafting quarterly and annual SEC reports.
Assist with drafting quarterly press releases.
Assist with drafting of annual report.
Assist with investor relations activities as needed.
Ongoing maintenance of ownership holdings and filings for all Section 16 reportable insiders.
Communicate with external auditors as necessary during quarterly and annual review periods.
Research new pronouncements and guidance, and draft summary for review by supervisor.
Research impact of standards on new and existing accounting transactions.
Research impact of guidance from SEC and other authoritative bodies on new and existing disclosures within publicly filed documents.
Assist in developing and documenting new accounting policies and procedures as necessary.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
Required:
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Accuracy
Ability to work with limited supervision
B.S. Degree in Accounting
Manage workload consisting of multiple tasks and frequent deadlines
