The Role:
The Immunology team at Moderna is looking for a highly enthusiastic and talented Principal Research Associate interested in advancing our understanding and next-generation design of mRNA therapeutics. The individual will be a member of the Flow Cytometry Core Team and will be responsible for processing, acquiring, and analyzing preclinical and clinical samples utilizing cutting-edge technology. The Principal Research Associate - Flow Cytometry will play a critical role in supporting our Research projects. This position involves performing flow cytometry experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance our understanding of infectious diseases and develop novel therapeutic strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in flow cytometry, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for scientific discovery.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Flow Cytometry Experiments: Perform flow cytometry experiments to analyze cellular populations, immune responses, and other relevant parameters in infectious disease research.
Sample Preparation: Prepare and process biological samples, including blood, tissues, and cultured cells, for flow cytometry analysis.
Data Analysis: Analyze flow cytometry data using specialized software (e.g., OMIQ, FlowJo) and generate comprehensive reports to support research findings.
Instrument Maintenance: Operate and maintain flow cytometry instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning optimally.
Protocol Development: Assist in the development and optimization of flow cytometry protocols to enhance experimental accuracy and efficiency.
Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including immunologists, microbiologists, and bioinformaticians, to design experiments and interpret results.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental procedures, data, and observations.
Compliance: Adhere to all biosafety and regulatory guidelines
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Education: Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience or Bachelor’s with 5+ years of experience in Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with flow cytometry in a research or clinical laboratory setting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in flow cytometry techniques, including multicolor panel design, compensation, and gating strategies. Experience with flow cytometry software (e.g., FlowJo) is essential.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and contribute to shared goals.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in experimental work and data analysis.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities and deadlines.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Familiarity with cell sorting techniques and instrumentation.
Experience with Spectral Flow Cytometry (Cytek Aurora).
Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data analysis.
