JOB SUMMARY:
The Facilities Junior Maintenance Technician at Magna Engineered Glass is responsible for supporting the upkeep, repair, and optimization of plant equipment, building systems, and infrastructure to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained work environment. This role performs a variety of maintenance tasks including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment installation, and facility improvements. The technician also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, sustainability efforts, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Working both independently and as part of a team, the technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting operational goals. This position will initially train on standard first shift hours; however, the schedule may be adjusted for extended periods as needed to meet business demands.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with preventive maintenance (PM) activities, including implementing new procedures and periodically auditing and updating existing ones.
· Perform general facility upkeep, including cleaning, painting (floors, walls, and surfaces), and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
· Support facility maintenance efforts by maintaining accurate records of work orders, part inventory, and completed activities.
· Assist with troubleshooting and repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous production operations.
· Aid in the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
· Independently manage assigned maintenance projects, ranging from individual tasks to coordinating with multiple outside contractors.
· Maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of facility systems, including HVAC, water softeners, RO systems, humidification systems, tower water cooling/treatment, air handling units, boilers, compressors, dryers, plumbing, lighting, drainage, fire protection, roofing, exterior surfaces, interior/exterior doors, dock equipment, and warehouse racking.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including projects focused on cost reduction, energy efficiency, equipment uptime, and process optimization.
· Support sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives in collaboration with the site’s sustainability/energy champion.
· Contribute to the plant’s annual planning process by identifying improvement opportunities aligned with facility goals and objectives.
· Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass Systems’ Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Promptly report any hazardous conditions or injuries.
· Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational success.
· Foster a collaborative and adaptable work environment by contributing positively to team efforts and responding effectively to changing business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
· High school diploma required.
· Experience in preventive maintenance preferred.
· Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
