Rotating weekend schedule (approximately 4 weekends per year)
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:00 pm
Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Summary:
- This position engages in the selection of birds at a designated age based on conformation, physical attributes, and other heritable traits. This position also assists in the monitoring and coordinating of activities of Selection crew team members. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engages in the selection of approximately 1500-2500 pedigree birds daily at designated age based on conformation, physical attributes, and other heritable traits. (40%)
- Records information on a touch screen tablet such as bird weight, bird kept, number of birds selected, and bird sent to dissect. (30%)
- Monitors bird handling, bird transfer, bird welfare, and properly identifies the coop birds are assigned to; monitors selection numbers and percentages by line and sex. (10%)
- Monitors the washing/sanitizing of coops daily via commercial pressure washer on wet/slick floors, maintains clean foot pans in assigned boot room, weekly sanitation of break room and all equipment used during selection process. (10%)
- Lead person must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: assists with identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band number, and audit market birds for wing bands; assists in set-up for selection by loading empty coops into house, placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access, hanging lights for better visual, set-up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords. Assists manager with scheduling due to absent team members; properly euthanizes weak, ill and injured birds in accordance with company policy. (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
