Job Overview
Shriners Children's has a full time Patient Care Assistant position available in our Lexington Outpatient Clinic!
The Patient Care Assistant assists physicians, RN’s and members of the interdisciplinary team by performing assigned tasks under the supervision of the physician and/or Specialty Care Clinic Manager.
Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Rooms patients, obtains vital signs for pediatric patients infant to 21 years with orthopedic, burn, reconstructive plastic and rehabilitation conditions dependent on location.
- Gathers and documents patient’s clinical information as provided by patient/parent/legal guardian.
- Performs procedures in accordance with state guidelines and regulations.
- Is initial contact for all patients and families visiting the Outpatient Department.
- Depending on location, may provide assistance in casting and cast removal, outpatient registration and discharge support, telephone and in-person appointment scheduling, appointment reminders, demographic updates, special diagnostic procedure instructions, and coordinate components of outreach clinics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma / GED required
Certification/Licensure
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - preferred
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - required within 6 months
Experience
One year of pediatric nursing assistant experience preferred
Must demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups service (birth-age 21)
