A Day in the Life

In this exciting role as the Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of manufacturing processes with contract manufacturers and equipment for advanced development projects.  You will hold a high bar for design for manufacturability and assembly, be the technical voice for manufacturing on core teams/extended teams, be at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies, and be accountable for team commitments and project contract metrics.

The Senior Process Engineer is the recognized technical leader of manufacturing technology and processes on new product introduction (NPI) and maintenance projects.  In this role, you may provide leadership to an extended project team comprised of individuals from manufacturing engineering, specialists, engineers, and other functions to drive successful development and commercialization of new products. 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area or with a contract manufacturer.

  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.

  • Provides project management support for NPI and sustaining projects

  • Lead standard work initiatives or improvements

  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.

  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.

  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.

  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.

  • This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

  • Baccalaureate degree in engineering with minimum of 4 years of project management experience,

  • Or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years project management experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Mechanical aptitude and/or experience with tooling and fixturing, including design or rapid prototyping.

  • Experience in new manufacturing process and equipment development, characterization, and qualifications.

  • Experience working in medical device or other regulated industry.

  • Experience or extensive knowledge of at least 2 related disciplines (with knowledge of all) such as:

    • Product development

    • Manufacturing Engineering

    • Supply chain planning/capacity planning for launch.

    • Technical expertise in qualifications (i.e., validation including IQ/OQ/PQ, CPAP, or related)

    • Design for Manufacturability (DMR/DFSS or similar methodology)

  • Program or project management experience leading a complex new product or new process development.
